Backyard Morning
As the sun comes up in the morning, the flowers open.
Birds begin to arrive.
Although they’re busy eating, they keep their eye on me.
A rabbit emerges.
A hyperactive hummingbird pauses for a brief moment to make sure I’m not a predator.
Butterflies and bees sip from the flowers.
Mmmmm… fresh seeds.
