NASA live broadcast of the ATREX 5 rocket salvo

(UPDATE 9:26pm – Launch scrubbed – see end of post)

I drove to the shore twice in the last week to try to photograph this event. Both times, the launch was scrubbed due to technical issues/weather. The launch window for tonight’s attempt is midnight to 3:00 am (eastern).

In order for the launches to occur, clear skies are required at three special camera sites located along the mid-Atlantic coast in Virginia, North Carolina and New Jersey.

The visible tracers may be observed for up to 20 minutes by residents in the mid-Atlantic region, and along the east coast of the United States from parts of New Jersey to South Carolina.

The next launch attempt will be midnight through 3AM eastern on March 23rd 2012.
